Methodology: 

This course aims to empower teachers with the necessary digital skills to effectively utilize educational apps and tools in their classrooms. Through exploring various software and applications, participants will gain confidence in using information and communication technology (ICT) and learn simple, practical strategies for enhancing their digital teaching approaches. By the end of the course, teachers will have a foundation for using digital resources to meet the needs of their students. 

Throughout the course, participants will have the opportunity to gain practical experience in understanding the effects of digital technologies in online collaboration and communication in an educational setting. 

Participants will have the opportunity to learn through hands-on tasks and active participation in how to digitalize their teaching materials using user-friendly apps. Additionally, they will receive guidance on creating a digital classroom, using PowerPoint/Google Slides, step-by-step guidance on how to create simple quizzes and digital games and on how to plan online lessons to engage students in a flipped classroom. Finally, participants will discover some useful apps for assessing student achievements.

4. Communicate and collaborate in an online environment;

5. Create digital games for different subjects;

6. Assess students’ progress with digital tools;

7. Understanding of a flipped classroom .

COURSE CHARACTERISTICS:

• Place: CORAL ENGLISH SCHOOL Via Enrico Costa, 133 Alghero (Italy)

• Duration: Monday - Friday from 9.00 am to 1 pm every day (afternoon free for cultural activities) 

• Destination: Teachers/Staff

• Participants’ number: minimum 5/maximum 15

• Necessary knowledge or material: a computer and a smartphone or tablet 

• Working Language: English

• Our team: 3 teachers/ native English speakers

DAILY PROGRAMME

MONDAY

Topic: Digital Classroom

• Meet and greet;

• Week briefing & planning;

• Introduction to cloud learning, ICT and why digital tools should be implemented in the classroom;

• Best practices for using apps in the classroom;

• Benefits, risks, and costs of using these technologies in the classroom;

• The digital paperless classroom;

• Workshop - Create a digital classroom and learn the functions within the classroom such as giving assignments, collecting homework, and making corrections on oral/written homework.

TUESDAY

Topic: Educational apps and content creation 

• What is gamification?;

• Apps for creating digital games for education;

• Types of educational apps;

• Criteria for Selecting educational apps;

• Evaluating the quality of educational apps;

• Finding and downloading educational apps;

• Workshop - Designing digital games for various school subjects;

• Workshop - Creating digital content.

WEDNESDAY

Topic: Creating a dynamic presentation

• Why and how to use presentations in your classroom;

• Techniques and strategies for creating, editing, collaborating and communicating in a presentation platform;

• How to add photos, videos and animation to slides;

• How to use presentations to create games/quizzes/surveys;

• Workshop - Create a dynamic and interesting presentation.

THURSDAY

Topic: Digital evaluation

• Creating a balanced approach to app use in education;

• Promoting responsible app use among students;

• Managing app use in the classroom;

• Assessing student learning with educational apps;

• How to evaluate students using digital tools;

• Workshop - Make an online quiz;

• Workshop - learn to evaluate students using a digital classroom.

FRIDAY

Topic: The flipped digital classroom

• Why and how to incorporate this method in the classroom;

• Benefits and costs of this style of teaching;

• Workshop - Participants create a flipped lesson plan using the digital tools they have learned;

• Certification ceremony.
